We are a family of three working one copper vat in an old tannery street in Salon-de-Provence. Every loaf rests five weeks on cedar racks before it leaves the shop — no heat-forcing, no fillers, no hurry.
We only sell what we have cured. When a batch runs out it is gone until the next pour, usually five to six weeks later. Prices are per 100 g bar.
The classic green bar, 72% olive oil with a little bay laurel. Mild enough for the face.
Pressed with lavender from the plateau above Sault, cured through the summer.
Red ochre from the Luberon and rosemary from the garden. A firmer, scrubbing bar.
Only olive and coconut oil. For sensitive skin and for the very young.
Hélène started the savonnerie in 1998 in what used to be a leather workshop on the rue des Tanneurs. Her two children now cut and stamp alongside her.
We press our own blend of olive oils from mills in the Alpilles, fold in the lye by hand, and pour into oak moulds lined with linen. Nothing here is automated — the wire cutter is the newest machine and it is forty years old.
Read our story →The first oil from the Alpilles mills is in. The olive & laurel batch poured this week will be ready by mid-November.
The workshop is open again after the summer break. The lavender bars cured over July are now in the shop.
We have switched to unbleached paper printed with vegetable ink. It composts with the rest of your kitchen waste.
